MESSAGE FROM OUR DISTRICT GOVERNOR
Dear Rotary Friends It is a truism that as an organisation in a fast changing world we either move forward or we regress for the one thing that we cannot do is stand still. The merger of Districts 9250 and 9300 provides us with an incentive rarely before experienced to leverage the positive aspects of both districts and create a worthy successor to our two parent districts. The membership is double that of either founding district and with it goes a doubling of the talent, energy and enthusiasm. We need to call on all our talents to meet the challenges of today for today is not the yesterday we remember and tomorrow will be very different from today. As a pilot Future Vision district we are on a learning path to create the Rotary of tomorrow and as we believe in our organisation so we grasp the opportunities afforded us to build a vibrant, exciting and dynamic organisation. To sustain and grow our membership we will focus on effective clubs that both attract and retain members and will not be afraid to question ourselves where we are found wanting. Our planet‘s resources are under threat and preservation of the environment and resources such as water find their expression in the theme of "reuse, recycle and replant". But these ideals are only possible with an educated and informed populace and literacy is our key enabler. Rotary was born in fellowship and we must preserve the fun and enjoyment in all we do. We ask that you join us in treading lightly across our district, with a sense of humour and humility always to the fore and not forgetting that one profits most who serves best. May this Rotary year, the first of D9400, be memorable, challenging and fulfilling. Enhance the image of Rotary as we live out the theme "Building Communities and Bridging Continents." Francis Callard DG 2010-2011
